Rolls-Royce wins Asian deals
Nearly half of the US$1.7 billion of engine orders Rolls-Royce announced at the Farnborough Air Show came from the Asia-Pacific region.

The orders include a US$420 million deal with Garuda Indonesia placed for Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines to power six Airbus A330 aircraft.
The engine manufacturer also won a US$240 million share of a Vietnam Airlines order for V2500 engines from IEA to power 36 Airbus A321 aircraft; and a US$130 million share of a China Southern order for V2500 engines to power 20 Airbus A320 aircraft.
In addition to these orders, Rolls-Royce also extended its Trent 700 TotalCare contract with Garuda Indonesia, and signed a new Totalcare agreement with Sichuan Airlines for its Trent 700 engines worth US$65 million. Totalcare offers airlines a power-by-the-hour type support.
“The orders from our Asian customers reinforce our view that this region is increasingly a driver in the global aviation industry. In fact, across all our business sectors – civil and defence aerospace, marine and energy, Asia and the Middle-East account for roughly 45% of the Group’s order book,” said Jonathan Asherson, Regional Director for Southeast Asia, Rolls-Royce.
He added, “Our Totalcare agreements also reflect the continued success of our Totalcare approach in delivering flexible engine support service for improvements in aircraft operations and availability.”
