ERJ190 crashes in China (August 26, 2010)

A Henan Airlines Embraer ERJ-190 crashed after landing at Yichun City’s Lindu Airportin north east China on Wednesday night, killing at least 42.


The Henan Airlines aircraft, with 91 people on board, burst into flames after overshooting the runway.

This was the first fatal crash involving an ERJ-190 airliner in six years of commercial operation.

A report from the Associated Press says that the recently built airport was shrouded in fog, with visibility less than 2,000 feet (600 meters), and adds that China Southern had decided to suspend night flights to the airport. The airport has
