Embraer Receives Mexican Order for 23 Business Jets

Embraer Executive Jets has announced a firm order for 23 business jets from Across, a Mexican business aviation services provider. The entire contract is valued in excess of US$ 260 million (at current list prices) and comprises of eight Legacy 500, eight Phenom 300 and seven Phenom 100E jets. Deliveries have already commenced.

Vietjet Places Record Order for 100 737 MAX 200 Jetliners

Vietnamese carrier Vietjet has placed a record order for 100 737 MAX 200 jetliners with Boeing. The order is the largest ever single commercial airplane purchase in Vietnamese civil aviation history and was signed during  U.S. President Barack Obama's visit to the country. The order which is worth an estimated US$11.3 billion at current list prices is an important one for Boeing, as Vietjet has traditionally been an operator of Airbus A320 family aircraft.

EASA Certification Obtained for PW1500G Engine

An important milestone has been achieved by Pratt & Whitney's PurePower Geared Turbofan PW1500G engine following the grant of certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) on May 18. The EASA certification covers the PW1519G, PW1520G, PW1524G and PW1525G engine thrust variants.

Air China to Commence Operations with Trent 1000 Engines

Air China has become China’s first operator of the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, powered by the Trent 1000 engine. The airline took delivery of its first 787-9 from Boeing this month and the aircraft took off from Boeing’s Delivery Centre in North Charleston, SC, USA, and landed at the Beijing Capital International Airport, China.

SIA Establishes Holding Company for Scoot and Tiger Airways

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has announced the creation of a holding company that will own and manage its budget airlines Scoot and Tiger Airways, following the delisting of Tiger Airways (which operates as Tigerair) from SGX-ST. Scoot and Tiger Airways, will now be led by Lee Lik Hsin, as CEO of the holding company. Said Mr Lee of his new position as CEO of Budget Aviation Holdings: “I am excited to be appointed to this new role. There are many opportunities ahead for Scoot and Tigerair to work more closely together, which will provide new opportunities for the growth of both airlines for the benefit of our customers.”
