FAA Approval for Gulfstream GIV and GV FANS 1/A+ Upgrade

U.S. Federal Aviation Administration approval has been accorded to Gulfstream Aerospace to upgrade its Gulfstream GIV and GV aircraft with Future Air Navigation System (FANS) over Iridium (FOI) using the TrueNorth Simphone FANS 1/A+ Data Link Unit (DLU). The stand-alone unit enables data connectivity over the Iridium satellite communications (SATCOM) network, allowing an aircraft fitted with the system to have access to FANS communication in remote coverage areas.

Bombardier Celebrates 40 Years of Operations in Tucson, Arizona

Bombardier is celebrating the 40th year of operations of its Tucson Air Centre which is the largest of Canadian airframer’s nine aircraft service Centres and is located in Tucson, Arizona. The facility which services Bombardier commercial and business aircraft, employs over 900 engineers, technicians and staff and has almost one million square feet (92,900 square metres) of total hangar space.

China Eastern Establishs First Paperless Airline Operations in China

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has recently provided authorisation to China Eastern Airlines, to operate in a fully digital capacity, using Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro as part of its electronic flight bag (EFB) solution. China Eastern is the first airline in China to achieve paperless operating status and was partnered in the certification and authorisation effort by Jeppesen (a Boeing company).

HERMES 450 Showcases Civilian Capabilities

Elbit Systems of America, a subsidiary of Elbit Systems Ltd, recently highlighted the civilian capabilities of its HERMES 450 UAV over the skies of North Dakota. The UAV has been flying precision agriculture flights from the Hillsboro Regional Airport over the last four months, in collaboration with North Dakota State University and the Northern Plains UAS Test Site.

Emirates Deploys Boeing 777-300ER on Service to Khartoum, Sudan

Emirates will replace the Airbus A340-300 currently operating its service between Dubai and Khartoum with a larger Boeing 777-300ER from September 1.
