Airbus Bags Massive Chinese Order for 100 H135s

A Chinese consortium made up of China Aviation Supplies Holding Company (CAS), Qingdao United General Aviation Industrial Development Company (Qingdao United) and CITIC Offshore Helicopter Co. Ltd (COHC) has placed a massive order for 100 Airbus Helicopters H135 light-twin helicopters.

Hainan Airlines Receives First Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

Chinese carrier Hainan Airlines has taken delivery of its first Boeing787-9 Dreamliner. The airline has become the first operator in China to receive both the 787-8 and 787-9. Hainan Airlines also has the largest fleet of operational 787s in China, with 10 787-8s in service and plans to deploy its first 787-9 Dreamliner on a new route from Beijing to Las Vegas beginning in September.

Garuda Indonesia and MTU Sign Exclusive CF34 Engine Maintenance Agreement

MTU Maintenance has signed an exclusive maintenance contract with Asian carrier, Garuda Indonesia for its CF34-8C5 engines, for a period of five years.  Under the contract terms Garuda Indonesia will send its CF34-8C5 to MTU Maintenance for repair. The CF34-8C5 engine, powers a Garuda Indonesia fleet of 18 Bombardier CRJ1000 aircraft.

Emirates Repays Bonds in Excess of USD $1.1 billion

Emirates Airline has announced that the repayment of a bullet bond in full for the value of USD $1 billion (AED 3.673 billion) on its maturity date of 8 June 2016.  The Dubai based carrier had raised the bond to meet its working capital requirements in 2011. Emirates have also announced that it will be repaying a SGD 150 million taken in 2006.

New Qantas International Premium Lounge at Brisbane

Australian carrier Qantas has announced that it will start construction of its new multimillion dollar International Premium Lounge at Brisbane Airport in the coming few weeks. The all-new lounge will be open for customers from October this year. Qantas has announced that a single International Premium Lounge will replace the existing Brisbane International First and Business Lounges.
