Air Lease Corporation Places Two Boeing 737-800s with SpiceJet

Two Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft have been placed on long-term lease to Indian low cost carrier, SpiceJet by leading aircraft lessor Air Lease Corporation (ALC). The aircraft will be delivered to the airline in July and August 2016. Out of the two aircraft, one of the 737-800s is from ALC’s order book with Boeing, while the second is a 2012-built 737-800 with winglets and sky interior.

Rockwell Collins Upgrading China Eastern 737s with Iridium SATCOM

China Eastern Airlines is upgrading more than 100 of its Boeing 737 jetliners, with Rockwell Collins Iridium SATCOM aftermarket solutions, for which installations are currently in progress. The voice and data communications solution, will enable reliable long-range global voice communications, flight tracking and Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) and is being installed via a Boeing service bulletin for Next-Generation Boeing 737s.

Qatar Airways Teams-Up with Malaysia’s Malindo Air

Qatar Airways and Malaysian-based airline Malindo Air have teamed-up to offer enhanced connectivity, coupled with the convenience of a single reservation across both airlines’ networks. The new bilateral interline agreement took effect on 8 July 2016 and will allow passengers seamless travel and greater connectivity, when travelling between Southeast Asia and more than 100 destinations in Qatar Airways’ network.

RUAG Delivers First Overhauled ATR Landing Gear Shipset

RUAG Aviation has announced the it has completed the overhaul and delivery of an ATR landing gear shipset after 35 days, marking a company first for RUAG. The landing gear overhaul effort saw the close involvement of the customer from the beginning of the project. “Provided with regular and clear progress reports, a collaborative dialogue was created which served to further expedite the project,” a RUAG statement elaborated.

Panasonic Avionics Corporation and leading bug bounty provider Hackerone are engaging with elite “white hat” hackers, to ensure the security of its inflight entertainment systems. Panasonic as the world’s largest provider of inflight entertainment and communications systems, is taking part in the program as it is acknowledged as best practice for effective security by identifying any weaknesses in internet-connected systems.
