Changes at the Helm for Malaysia Airlines

Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB), has a new Group Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in Peter Bellew, who took over from Christoph Mueller as part of an accelerated leadership transition. Mueller stepped down on 1 July. Bellow will now take over the execution of Malaysia Airlines’ turnaround plan and provide further momentum for the overall restructuring effort, as set out by Khazanah in its 12-point MAS Recovery Plan.

Emergency Evacuation on Singapore Airlines Jetliner After Engine Fire

All passengers have been safely evacuated from a Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300ER jetliner, after the right engine on the wide-body twin-aisle aircraft caught fire following an emergency landing at Singapore’s Changi International Airport. Singapore Airlines Flight SQ368 departed Changi, at approximately 02:25 hours on Monday morning (27 June) and was on a scheduled flight to Milan, Italy.

Russia’s United Engine Corporation Starts New TV7-117V Engine Production for Mi38

Series production of the new TV7-117V turboprop engine developed by JSC "Klimov" has commenced at the United Engine Corporation (UEC) plant in Russia. The new engine powers the new Mi-38 helicopter and with modifications can also be used on the IL-114 and IL-112V fixed wing aircraft.

Airbus Commences A350XWB China Demonstration Tour

Airbus has announced the start of its first ever demo tour of China for the Airbus A350XWB. The tour will commence from June 25th and will end on July 2nd. A350 XWB test aircraft MSN2 (Manufacturer Serial Number) will fly to Beijing (PEK), Shanghai (SHA), Guangzhou (CAN), Haikou (HAK) and Chengdu (CTU), during the course of the eight-day trip. The flights will be operated by Airbus flight crews.

Bombardier Bags 10 Aircraft CRJ900 Order

Bombardier has announced that an undisclosed customer has signed a firm purchase agreement for 10 CRJ900 aircraft, valued at approximately U.S. $472 million (at list prices). With this latest order, Bombardier has notched up a total of 1,902 firm orders for CRJ Series aircraft family. Total CRJ900 orders stand at 428 aircraft.
