CFM56 Fleet Crosses 800 Million Flight Hours

In a historic achievement, CFM International's CFM56 fleet has become the first high bypass turbofan engine family in history to achieve more than 800 million engine flight hours in service. The CFM56 family will achieve one billion flight hours by the year 2020 and presently logs a million flight hours every eight days!

GoAir Receives First Airbus A320neo

Indian low cost carrier (LCC) GoAir has taken delivery of its first A320neo aircraft, becoming the world’s third operator of the type and the second Indian airline to do so. To date, seven A320neo aircraft have been delivered to three customers.

Joint EASA, FAA Airworthiness Certification for CFM LEAP-1A Powered A320neo

The Airbus A320neo powered by CFM International’s LEAP­1A engine has received Type Certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The certification was accorded to the airframer and engine manufacturer on schedule and the LEAP is the second engine option for the A320neo.

United Airlines Launches Singapore to San Francisco Non-stop Service

United Airlines has launched a nonstop Boeing 787 Dreamliner service between Singapore and its hub at San Francisco International Airport, becoming the first airline to offer nonstop flights between the two cities. This is also the only nonstop service to the United States from Singapore and will allow passengers to save up to four hours’ journey time each way between the two cities. Flying times are approximately 15 hours, 30 minutes eastbound and 16 hours, 20 minutes westbound.

Cathay Pacific Airways Becomes Sixth A350 XWB Operator

Cathay Pacific Airways’ first Airbus A350 XWB aircraft featuring the carrier’s new livery arrived at its home base in Hong Kong on May 30. The arrival of the A350XWB with Cathay Pacific, makes it the sixth airline to operate the twin engine widebody type. Cathay Pacific’s A350­900 will commence long haul operations later this year, but in the initial period will fly on the airline’s regional routes.
