Successful Hangar Exit for Airlander 10

The world’s largest aircraft, the Airlander 10, has successfully exited the hangar for the first time, following the completion of all indoor testing. The hangar exit was a delicate operation for the giant air vehicle as there only a 6m clearance from the fin tip to the sides of the hangar doors. After its exit from the hangar, the Airlander 10 was towed to rest at the primary mast site - one of the two that have been specially prepared for her on the airfield.

Maiden Flight for Gulfstream G500 Production Test Aircraft

Gulfstream has announced the successful completion of the first flight of its fifth G500 test aircraft, which is also the first production test aircraft to be outfitted with a full interior and serves as the testbed for the cabin. Over a flight duration of 4-hours and 5-minutes, the aircraft attained a maximum altitude of 48,000 feet and reached a speed of Mach 0.84.

Maiden Flight for Pro Line Fusion Avionics Upgraded Citation CJ3

Rockwell Collins and Cessna have successfully completed the first flight of a Citation CJ3 equipped with the Pro Line Fusion avionics suite, last week. The new flight deck upgrade for the CJ3 was unveiled for the first time last fall. The upgrade was undertaken by Lincoln, Nebraska, based Duncan Aviation which has already received more than a dozen deposits from customers for the upgrade.

SWISS Names 2nd Bombardier C Series Jetliner, Canton de Geneve

SWISS has named its second Bombardier C Series jetliner ‘Canton de Geneve’, at a ceremony in Geneva Airport. The CS 100 jetliner bears the registration HB-JBB and according to an airline release, “The state-of-the-art short- and medium-haul twinjet will form part of SWISS’s Geneva based aircraft fleet from April 2017 onwards.”

The Leonardo Museum Opens Blockbuster FLIGHT Exhibit to Public

The Leonardo museum in Salt Lake City has opened its newest blockbuster exhibit called FLIGHT, a fully interactive exhibit with a full sized C-131 aircraft at the center. In addition, to exhibiting interactives, two flight simulators, an expansive art piece titled The Tunnel of Dreams, visitors can climb in, on or around the aircraft in order to learn exactly what makes it fly.
