Japan Airlines Boeing 777-200s Operational with Thales AVANT IFE

Japan Airlines has announced the entry into service of their Boeing 777-200 aircraft equipped Thales AVANT In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) system, marking the first AVANT retrofit for Thales. Japan Airlines has upgraded 11 aircraft with the AVANT IFE and was the first airline to choose the system for a fleet retrofit.  The Japanese carrier was also the first Asian airline to choose the AVANT IFE for its Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

Malaysia Airports Announces Collaborations for KLIA Aeropolis

Malaysia Airports which is positioning the recently launched KLIA Aeropolis venture as a world-class airport city, with the tagline, “Creating Tomorrow, Here,” announced a number of collaborations with industry players at the Farnborough Air Show. The core of its development will be KL International Airport’s (KLIA) which currently caters to more than 50 million passengers a year with over 60 airlines serving 130 direct destinations.

Pratt & Whitney to Work on Revised PW150A Engines for AN-132

Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) will provide a new version of its PW150A turboprop engine for Antonov's AN-132 under a Memorandum of Understanding concluded at the Farnborough Air Show. The AN-132 is a new light, multi-purpose aircraft, being developed by Antonov with participation from the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST).

Sukhoi Unveils SportJet

Russian airframer Sukhoi Civil Aircraft has introduced a third product in the SportJet by Sukhoi, that will join the Sukhoi Superjet 100 and Sukhoi Business Jet concepts. The airliner is scheduled for release and certification in 2018. Company officials estimate that the sports air transportation market now exceeds U.S.$ 600 million per year.

First Airbus Helicopters H175 VIP Version Delivered

The delivery of the first H175 VIP version helicopter has been completed by Airbus Helicopters to an undisclosed customer who will operate it in Europe. Delivered as a complement to a yacht also used by the operator, the VIP version of the H175 can accommodate seven passengers. This is the first delivery of the VIP version with a second one following later in the year.
