China Southern Airlines Firms-Up Order for 12 787-9 Dreamliners

China Southern Airlines has finalised an order of 12 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, valued at US$3.2 billion (at current list prices). The airline is already China’s largest carrier by fleet size to operate both variants of Dreamliner family and was the Chinese launch customer for the 787. The new 787-9s will be used by China Southern to further increase its capacity on long-haul routes.

Atlas Air Orders 9 Boeing 767 Passenger to Freighter Conversions

Boeing has received orders for the conversion of nine 767 passenger airplanes into Boeing Converted Freighters (BCF) from Atlas Air Worldwide. The New York based provider of outsourced aircraft and aviation operating services has an all-Boeing fleet.

Spanish Carrier Binter Orders 6 ATR 72-600s

Long-standing European ATR operator, Spanish carrier Binter, will add six additional ATR 72-600s to its fleet, taking its total aircraft orders for the type to eighteen. The new regional transports are being procured as part of a fleet renewal process started by the airline in 2014, when it ordered its first batch of ATR 72-600s.

Universal Avionics Flight Deck Upgrade for Asian S-61 Operator

A fleet of Sikorsky S-61A-4 NURI helicopters in use with an Asian operator, will receive cockpit upgrades that will be undertaken by Universal Avionics and Heli-One. The installations will feature Universal’s EFI-890H Advanced Flight Displays and Multi-Missions Management System (MMMS). Heli-One an authorised dealer with Universal Avionics will perform the design and installation work on the first aircraft and an Asian Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) provider will undertake the upgrades for the remainder of the fleet.

Flight Test Campaign Starts for New H175 Variant

The flight test campaign for a new configuration of the Airbus Helicopters H175 has commenced. Initial flight-tests of the public services variant of the H175 medium twin-engine helicopter, were successfully completed earlier this month. It also included a demonstration for the Hong Kong’s Government Flying Service (GFS), which was the launch customer for this new variant in September 2015, with an order for seven units.
